Charles and MaryAnn Visit |

| Friday: We all went down and had breakfast together that morning, at the hotel, I think there was agreement on the excellence of the food. Then we started exploring, John and Andrea went on a float, my experience with the same I shall relate later. The rest of us strolled about, finding all sorts of neat places including a Paper store and a Beads and stuff store, where Melissa found and bought a fox stone fetish, giving it to me later --- knowing that I had been looking for one. At one point we wandered by the new US embassy, which from what I have heard, has been quite controversial,since it is built quite fortress like. Cd stores, and swim trunks.... Getting back we were waiting for Charles and MaryAnn, and all sitting around in a circle. John persuaded people to read or tell stories, somehow I ended up first, and read some passages from a couple of my journals. Next Melissa, read a poem, and parts of a story, Rick some thoughts and poems, Andrea poems as well, and John an excerpt from his book. And I though, wow, good stuff, if I had known what others were going to read, I would have kept quiet, or found something else, of higher quality, it is tough going first. Charles and MaryAnn arrived, and we ended up going to an italian restaurant, called Oregano's. Dinner was pleasant, with its entertainments, and the wandering after, into a bookstore (imagine that!) and then back to the Hotel for conversation, pictures and signings. That night, I could have just sat on the balcony and thought and thought... just lots of things to think on, but I had to get up to be at the floating place. |
