A late lunch in a pub (not Patty's),
and then,we headed back to the hotel, stopping at some CD
stores along the way. There we contacted MaryAnn, finally, who had been
detained in Home Depot, or some such... I never did get the story straight.
We took a taxi ride, (2 cabs please--our driver pointed out some sights and
the prime ministers car, who passed us going the other way at one point) to
Paddy's an irish pub (obviously) getting there about 7:30 ish (which is the
time MaryAnn had reserved a table for us, they planning on being there about
8:30 to set up. The place was cozy, we had a good table, a large corner
type booth almost, with a good view of the (tiny) stage area. MaryAnn came
and chatted with us while Charles was setting up. We had a bit to drink, and
I suppose some silliness ensued, but then I can be rather serious, so I am
not one to judge (I had a few whiskeys and a scotch, but having no idea of
what they might cost (pubs aren't my usual venue) stopped before I could
really feel any effect. The music was wonderful, the company great and in
total the night just amazing. Charles and MaryAnn came and talked with us for a while, between
their sets, and we met Peter, who lives in Ottawa also, at that point.
I only would have liked to have some way to capture the night forever,
but it did end. We returned to the hotel and all went to sleep, but
some did much later than others..... |
