![]() Where Tamson House would be | |
| Saturday: I woke up quite tired, not sleeping well, went off with only a soda for breakfast, as didn't have much time, and went to go for a float. A different experience, you float in a oversize tub of salty water where your are kept enough out of the water so as to not get in in your eyes, or mouth, in a darkened room, (with or without music) sort of a sensory deprivation sort of thing.... I was surprised I didn't fall asleep however. Didn't have any amazing insights or anything like that. (The one insight I did have on the trip came earlier ... ) went back to the rooms afterwards, and then had breakfast myself, as others were off to the jacuzzi or off wandering. Went wandering myself (in search of a photography museum on the map, but not where I thought it should be, never found it) went here and there, got back and found it was hurry and check out time !! Oops sorry no one told me... We checked out, and headed over to the Glebe, (would have been nicer to have more time there, and less rain, for it had started to rain as we left. The Glebe is a neat part of Ottawa, especially in that it has lots of used bookstores, and other interesting shops.Parking the vehicles, we walked first past where Tamson House would be, it it really was, and past the spot where the Merry Dancers would be. Continuing to walk, we crossed over the canal, had lunch at pub named The Barley Mow and then walked some more to the Ottawa Folklore store (which is a musical instrument and stuff store). Then we worked our way back to the vans and car, poking in this and that store and near the end getting separated. We got back together, all save Tora and Andrea... and returned to the vehicles, to find tickets on our cars, warnings for some and fines for others, which was strange as they were all parked in a row. John headed out in the red van to find the missing ones, and as he drove off around a corner, they showed up. He returned soon, and we were off to the US. Made it to the border, and through without a problem, except for a turn that was almost missed.. save for the expert guidance of Melissa (from 3rd in the caravan no less) and down to Burlington, where we checked into a Days Inn. and then went to Friendlys for supper. We had 2 rooms (though the way things were going we ended in one room for a good part of the evening) ... John found that Andrea is one not to be taunted too much, having fierce retaliatory capabilities, it turned into a TMI night where everything anyone said could be turned into a straight line (and I really should have brought my camera up from the car) When things were all settled out, as to who ended up where, I actually had a bed to myself that night, and got a peaceful nights rest. Sunday: I was up early, went out got money from an ATM, and got some gas for my car, and came back... and it was hurry up people time because we had to check out by 11 am.. thence to Friendlys for breakfast and goodbyes... I drove some distance with them, before separating, and arrived home around 5 pm. | |
